I used to insist that time was linear, and that all this "special relativity" business could still be handled that way, with time as a parameter.
I now accept that it's not so simple, and when you're dealing with advanced physics, time becomes a fourth dimension. I don't fully understand how it all works, but I've abandoned my primitive intuitive dogma.
