I notice that in Drich's parenting style, the only concern is obedience. There's no mention of emotional or intellectual development. No mention of mental or physical health. The only thing he is concerned about is blind obedience from his kids. I guess when you live your life as a slave, obedience is all you know.
The thing is, corporal punishment isn't even necessary when it comes to obedience. I've never spanked my kids, yet at the last parent/teacher conference, my oldest's teacher raved about how well behaved he is.
And does anyone else find it funny that Mr. Ultra-Conservative is celebrating a public official laying their hands on another person's kids? Where's the outrage at government overreach we're so used to?

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
