My ex tossed me out on the street the day after Christmas 2008. I don't think I have to remind anyone what economic conditions were like then. Despite being on the deed of a nice country home - and being entirely on the hook for the payments - I was basically homeless for awhile, then spent 5 years living in my brother's spare bedroom, and the last 20 months in a craptastic cheap apartment. Tomorrow I'm making the move back into home ownership - but it's a crapshack in a disadvantaged area.

The "basement dweller" meme is stupid.
