It's not like babies can eat whatever is on the menu yet, and it's not like they're going to have fond memories of "that time my parents took me out as a baby" in years to come. There's no need for it in the first place. Like really, stay in your "taking the newborn for a stroll in the park" lane.
I don't envy anyone who works in retail long-term though. That one summer in 2013 was enough for me. I have SO many little things customers do that piss me off just from those 4 months.
Maybe it's because we like going out to eat...I suppose I could have left my babies home alone but I think it might be illegal. I could hire a baby sitter but then I'd be looked down upon for leaving my baby at such a young age (it's a huge thing here seriously. I once went to lunch with my sister at a restaurant I generally went to with my ex husband and the waitress asked where my kids were and then admonished me for leaving my then husband to babysit such a little baby. It's stupid but common where I live).
If your baby is crying it's probably hungry or in need of a diaper change. If neither of these things help then get a box and take your food to go.
I have three kids, I never ever let them be loud and annoying in restaurants (except chuckle cheese). I don't want to listen to other people's kids either.
I do agree that some restaurants are just not for kids.
