Trump kept saying this, but Trump also said that Obama couldn't be President. Cruz was born in Canada to an American mother and a Cuban father. By law, he gained American citizenship at birth, because his mother was an American.

The constitution states that only natural born citizens can be President, but it doesn't define what a natural born citizen is, and there hasn't been any Supreme Court case that defines it either. Most legal experts agree that it means anyone who acquired US citizenship at birth, which means anyone who was born to American parent(s) or anyone who was born within the US itself.
His mother was a Canadian citizen when she gave birth to the commie.
