I know I'm late on this, but let me explain:
Every year, my mother, youngest brother, and I join together over a weekend and watch the last year's Game of Thrones season. I don't currently have an online HBO thingy, but we like to own the DVDs for our collection anyway, so last week I went out and bought Season 5 (which I had not seen). Now, I have read the books, and my mother and brother haven't, so they often ask me for perspective and explanation on things in the show when they're confused (I shall feel useless when we sit down to watch Season 6 (if the book hasn't come out by the time we watch it), but we'll cross that bridge later). As such, I watch the show before they do so we can discuss and I can explain things and I can feel superior to them.
What I'm getting to is this: This week I've binge-watched Season 5 of Game of Thrones. Now, before it I already knew, from the books, that Jon Snow gets stabbed and Dany flies away on her baby and Cersei gets some small semblance of come-uppance. And, because I couldn't help myself, and I needed to know what happens to all of my favorite characters, I had already found out that Jaime watches his daughter die and Stannis burns Shireen alive and poor beloved Sansa ends up with Ramsey Bolton.
BUT OMG I CAN'T TAKE IT WHEN SHIREEN DIED I BAWLED AND BAWLED AND BAWLED AND WHEN MYRCELLA DIED I CRIED AND CRIED AND CRIED AND WHEN JON SNOW "DIED" I WEPT AND WEPT AND WEPT DAMN YOU EFFING GAME OF THRONES FOR PLAYING WITH MY EMOTIONS

Don't worry, my friend. If this be the end, then so shall it be.
