Who, besides Wahaabi-Salafis wanting to go to study Dawah at university (that always amuses me), would want to go to Saudi anyway? Pilgrimage (and visiting our friend Atlas I guess) is literally the only reason why anybody would want to go to Saudi. People don't go to Saudi for their holidays; it's not like Dubai. Now, Dubai has its issues - but at least it's not Saudi. I suppose if you're a terrorist you'd also go to Saudi, and they teach you go to get past airport security... *cough* 9/11 *cough*.

The Iranians aren't missing out on much; many are fighting against the theocracy and probably wouldn't enjoy Hajj anyway. I think Saudi loses more from this, because with oil going the way it is, Saudi needs all the pilgrimages it can get. Saudi should stop antagonizing Iran. But, look on the bright-side, at least now Saudi cannot jump to conclusions and blame Iran for the Hajj stampedes.

Saudi already banned flights to Iran so it's not like Iranians could easily get to Mecca anyway. What, are they going to walk through Iraq? I don't think do. So this is just a token gesture by Iran.

EDIT: I'll say it again: Mecca should be an independent city, like The Vatican so that people cannot play politics with it.

I would enjoy meeting guests now; don't think I'm disconnected from Arabic culture though; I can make your visit enjoyable (Even in Saudi Arabia), to be honest, the country provides awesome food ! if you're a food fan (coffee, dates...etc) you'll have a blast. But then again, both of us would get pickled in the heat.

In my personal vision, I think there should be a big college that accepts all Islamic sects (from Shia to Suffies); I mean it has Shia professors, Sunni professors, Ibadi professors, even Wahhabi professors; where a Muslim student would choose the sect he wants, peacefully, debates can take place peacefully, imagine now everybody gets out between lectures (girls would study with boys of course); marriages will happen, the umma would flourish instead of butchering itself in this idiotic hara-kiri.

I wish..mere wish.

Yeah..You cant acheive such vision, without making Mekkah independent.

Btw, I went to the holy mosque once; Iranians come in Hordes, and believe me: they are more savage than sunna; they are dangerous; and incidents that involved "stepping over other pilgrims" do take place every year. They're scary.
