I was speaking in a more general way about the party platforms.
The Republican used to be the progressive party, and the Dems were the conservative party.
I guess reading back over my posts, it could be (incorrectly) inferred that I was speaking specifically about racism, but that was not my intent.
You'd believe if you just opened your heart" is a terrible argument for religion. It's basically saying, "If you bias yourself enough, you can convince yourself that this is true." If religion were true, people wouldn't need faith to believe it -- it would be supported by good evidence.
