It's the difference between necessary and sufficient. I know that being informed about this or that religion is not sufficient to guarantee understanding it, but I'm wondering how being ignorant of it would help to understand it.
If I want to understand why people believe as they do -- and I do want to understand that -- then it behooves me to know what they believe. If you don't share that interest, great. That's why I wrote "I think" in post #31. I'm old enough to know that not everyone shares my priorities.
Yes, i see your point. Though i've never mention that being ignorant of religion would help to understand it. But if that statement wasn't about me then just ignore my ramblings.
Just explaining my own rationale is all.
