Those are only similar in name and you know it. And you'd still not be accounting for the fact, that everyone uses cars, while the same can't be said about guns. Or for the fact, that there are way more alcoholics and generally dumb people, than there are cold-blooded killers.
And of course, however you slice it, in this apples- vs-oranges comparison of yours - at this point there are no modern countries that have been able to do away with human-driven cars as transportation method, although there are efforts towards that goal. There are, however, great many countries, that banned, or heavily regulated the use of fire-arms, so at least we KNOW that it's possible and that it reduces gun-crime.
