I think a lot of the swing to the right in this country is coming from American's not knowing what to do. For the first time - maybe ever - American's are scared -

It was left wing backlash against the way Bush ran the country into the ground that promoted Obama to the White House. The betrayal is the way he's pandered to the right wing in some futile quest for bipartisanship and continuously thrown his base under the bus.

Like I said, whether its fair or not to put blame on Obama, that is what the douchebags like Pastor Stevens is doing. And yes, the left wing backlash did get Obama into the White House WITH no small help from a large portion of disenchanted right wingers who wanted so much to believe in their country again that they voted in a direction that they never had before. I personally know a lot of "conservatives" who decided to give Obama a shot because they were so sick of the condition of our country. Now those swing voters are swinging back and thus ... the remarks in my original post.
