(my bolding)
Questioning the definition of it is to equivocate it. When you define something differently you are no longer talking about the thing originally defined.
You can 'question the definition' of X all you want but once you do remember now that we're talking about X2 instead of X and no matter how true the things you say about X2 it has no bearing on X.
If you redefine 'white privilege' because of your rigid attachment to specific dictionary definitions of the word 'privilege' -- that unsurprisingly also happen to suit your own opinions on white privilege (*cough* confirmation bias *cough*) -- it doesn't change the reality of the fact that white privilege actually exists in the world.
You can talk about "white privilege" the concept all you want but it doesn't change the reality of white privilege itself. White people are generally going to be privileged however you define it.
I'm not trying to redefine it.
My understanding of it from how the words privilege and white are defined, and ontop of that how the phrase itself is commonly defined using a Google search is that white privilege is
Advantages whites people have not common to those of other non white races.
So if someone says not being shot by police is a white privilege it's not it's common among non white races to not be shot by police and in fact other groups are shot less than white people.
And that's my opinion based on what I think the definition of white privilege is.
But I'm not dictating my opinion to you as fact I really want to hear what you think the definition of white privilege is and if you disagree with any of the points I've made.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
