This fellow wrote a book called God's Secretaries: The Making of the King James Bible  He's too much of a fan of the damned thing for my tastes and he slides over some of the inherent problems with the translations used for the KJV but this video will answer your questions.

There are original notes and papers dealing with the process although they are kept in university libraries and obviously not accessible to the general public.  Perhaps you should read his book?
