But then again....I became aware of politics under Bush the First, a former CIA muckety muck. That set the tone.
Got a further education from Slick Willy (I might have to start calling him Clinton the 1st) who made it real by running through the block I grew up in when he was in the bay - sue me..before that it was always something that happened somewhere else.
Laughed as Bush the Second went from Yale to Yall (that man cut my turkey btw, didn't strike me as the idiot he played on TV).
Now, with Obama.....I didn't vote for him, either time....but I have to admit I was upset when he confirmed every cynical fiber that had grown in my body. That he couldn't live up to the hope...and wasn't the change people believed in. I suppose, at least, he prevented my entire life from being under the shadow of just two families in the white house.....giving me a little room to imagine - when I was too drunk or really hopped up on Murica...that we weren't an oligarchy. OFC that shit is ruined...because......
Today...I'm staring down the barrel of Clinton the Second, or the physical incarnation of everything that's wrong in american culture in The Trumpster, and wondering whether anything beyond this point can ever bring us back up out of the pit that they've all dug, for every moment of my life that I can remember. The Risen fucking Christ could run for Prez next term and somehow....I don't think I'd believe that he was remotely a decent person or any change from what came before. I've just accepted that american politics can;t produce a decent candidate anymore. That if they ever encounter one, they'll either grind that person down or spit them out. It;s just a business, and business is too good to let a little thing like governance, or "we the people" , interfere.
I agree with many of your points, but I have to disagree that Obama did nothing.
He did a great deal for the people. Maybe he did not do anything for you personally.
However, in the end, especially when it comes to the two parties who may still be financed by the same corporations, the dems will always be more for the people than the repubs.
