I don't think the VP pick is a big deal either, but there are certainly some progressives who see it that way.
My main reason for not supporting her has always been her untrustworthiness. She's flip flopped back and forth on so many issues, in such a short space of time, that I honestly don't know what her actual positions are. You linked to her stated platform, but I just have a hard time believing that those are the actual positions she will support once elected, and that's important to me.
While it's true that the oval office generally isn't the one that makes progressive change, they can still guide the debate. Obamacare wouldn't have happened had it not been for the Obama administration fighting for it.
