This man nearly beats his girlfriend to death. There is ample evidence, photos, police reports to back it up. She bravely gives a painful testimony in the courtroom, but she's Asian, so it is difficult for her to read in English.

Weekend jail. So he won't miss his job as an engineer in Silicon Valley. Immediately after her testimony, the judge calls his counsel over to determine what time on Monday morning he needs to be let out of jail so he won't be late for work.
