But deaths in police custody are an extreme rarity in the Uk. Without looking at the figures I would estimate of all police interactions here probably less than a 10th of a % result in a death directly attributed to police action. If you're talking deaths as a result of police actively shooting someone, it's probably less than that. Of course one needless death is one needless death too many.
The biggest problem with the U.K. Legal system is more its underfunding and the restrictions on legal aid for those who can't afford to hire a defence or fail through applications for state legal services. This discriminates against poor demographics, regardless of colour or gender.
