I don't understand what the common 'libertarian' thread is supposed to be among these countries. Fiscal/economic policy in line with libertarian ideas? Relative absence of restrictions on personal liberty?
You seem to grasp it instinctively. Those countries are known for both their civil and economic liberty. I don't know a lot about Swiss civil liberties, but I know Canada handily beats the USA in that regard and is a good place to do business.
