Religion portrays a state of non belief as a sickness that needs to be cured. And its a noble thing to preach the "path of sacrifice" to evade hell. Fear of hell is behind preaching. So, to ease the fears you do the preaching or Gods will.
I wonder if you can admit that like we atheists you can not be certain of any alternate reality beyond what we experience in these bodies? You say "religion teaches" but why do you suppose there is or ever was a human being that knew any more than you do on the subject?
I myself am simply skeptical that any human being is privy to 'special' intel regarding what happens after death. By all appearances, what lives dies and that is the end of them. You essentially believe that someone in the past recorded miraculous things and wrote down the good news for all to believe. I simply don't believe there is or ever was anyone living who was in any better a position than myself to know what can not be directly verified by ordinary means.
So try not to worry too much about my eventual date in hell. I have no reason to worry and all you have is your unsupportable decision to believe the 'good news' written down by what you hope were people in the know. Go on believing if you like but try not to project your reality onto those of us engaging the world on its own terms without an authoritarian overlay.
