Science deals in what is observable. Currently, the supernatural is not. Therefore, it is not a "materialistic ideology," to deal in the observable material world, rather than the unobservable supernatural, whose effects cannot even be established to exist.
In fact, in the real world we actually live in, insisting on the supernatural based on what we do know would be an a priori bias, not the reverse.
