If you understand a scientific theory and have the correct apparatus, you can go test it for yourself. Seriously. You think no one has though of that? You think it's a coincidence the world is running on the results of these carefully calculated results? Is there some conspiracy where everyone who does an experiment is taken away in an unmarked van before they can tweet about it?
I find it hard to believe anyone has so little idea of what science is.
I think he jumped the gun and insinuated something without thinking all of its implications through, and now he'd prefer to stand by it to the point of absurdity rather than admit he made a mistake. At least, I HOPE that's the case.
