I don't consider the Joker to be evil, by the way... he does what he wants and that can include killing people (in ways that are infact to the benefit of others (though they may not yet realize this)). Evil would be doing things not to please oneself, but to hurt others for nothing more than consistency or some other disregard for a situation.

Survival of the fittest is a good thing as some understand. Others find this to be a heartless viewpoint. "Good" as I see it is not that which (any?) society deems to be good... but that which I consider to be good. And I expect the next person to have their own understanding of this. Ultimately, the entire dungeons and dragon's 'good-evil' portion is a cop out to what is really meant. Lawful and chaotic? Now that's actually descriptive of something inherently intersubjective.

Please give me a home where cloud buffalo roam
Where the dear and the strangers can play
Where sometimes is heard a discouraging word
But the skies are not stormy all day
