Tax benefits, mostly. I make a killing. Guess who;s most likely to give you an std? The one night stand? One of the five people from last nights orgy? Nope. The wife. In 40 years of life she may have only had sex with one other person...and she didn;t know, but neither did he...and he only had sex with two people himself. Doesn't matter, sucker. STD's and STI's are -ubiquitous- to human beings, we only think otherwise or differently because we've been subject to cultural brainwashing of the most absurd order...considering that the people who did it had the fucking things themselves. Show up at the gp with an itch and it's not even a big deal...he sees it all day everyday, from the monogamous ones, from the "promiscuous" ones....from everyone.
Monogamy isn't a magical amulet. Biology doesn't give a shit how sanctified your relationship is. We imagine that there are a few "dirty ones" out there fucking up our "purity"..but we're demonstrably wrong about that. There are precious few "clean ones" regardless of how many people they've screwed. Good luck, try not to lose sleep over it.
