Interestingly, being able to overcome those fears and biases...and horrendous personal judgements...might actually be the very thing required to have a meaningful relationship with ones daughter as an equal, as a human being. To be able to successfully navigate whatever situation happened to be the instigator of that personal tick in a way that produces beneficial outcomes for both one's self...-and- one's daughter.
But don't take my word for it, I'm an obnoxious know-nothing, whose efforts and attempts at a productive discussion aren't worth wasting your time on.
