In fact, the idea of having a doctrine is anathema to science, which allows theories to change if new evidence is presented. Religious doctrine usually does not change, or only reluctantly changes only long after science has shown that doctrine to be false.
Christians are always so hypocritical when it comes to belief. They accept their beliefs unquestioningly, but if you were to present to them a different religion, they wouldn't believe in it without proof. Or, they believe that God talks to people, but when God tells a mother to drown her children they think that she's insane. Because "God would never tell someone to do that." I thought the mind of God was unknowable, so how can you know for sure he wouldn't?
again with the logic.
you cannot battle ignorance w/ logic. i am not sure what to battle it with.. i mostly try to use hypothetical situations to get the person to see the error in their judgment.. but that does not seem to work either.
