The God I assert of has been asserted by many, long before me, long before the "guy in the sky" became a popular strawman.

Good for them, and you. The same can be said of Santa.

So the Babylonians, Hindus and Egyptians all had a version of Santa Claus? Surely you can support that with excerpts from their writings?

Santa need be tracked no further than the Amanita Muscaria mushroom in Siberia. If you don't know the amanita, you don't know Santa or Christmas....and you'll certainly never understand the flying reindeer.

You did back then, if you were born to the right family. But more to the point, Jesus was basically saying "you have the same potential I do" in response to being accused of blasphemy in claiming to be a God.
