I can see covering a lot of miles on wheels over walking, I put almost 25 miles on my Crocs last week and when I get better at this I should be able to smoke that on two wheels. Right now not so much, but I'll learn.
Yeah, headphones and traffic aren't a good mix. If you can still find an old Walkman-style open-ear set, grab 'em -- so long as you're not cranking your player you can still hear ambient noise.
I'm jealous -- it'll be another year or so before the VA will replace my hip and I can get back to scootin'. Happy pedallin', brotha.
I think for on the road, I'm gonna look for a Bluetooth speaker I can mount on the handlebars or something. I pretty much have to because aside from the fact that I live in a helmet-mandatory state, I won't ride without one and I share your distaste of earbuds.
I'm gonna try to enjoy it. I enjoy walking for the scenery but there's only so many places I can go on foot and since a secondary goal is to limit driving, I expect to enjoy this even more, and Ibe always found an exercise program that practically fits within my leisure interests to be the easiest to stay on.
