I haven't read her original statement. Maybe I have overread it. First, the use of Zionist can mean a lot of things. Most often it's used in an entirely false sense. Not in the sense that Herzel intended when he founded the movement. Not in the sense the first settlers, before Israel was even founded, understood themselves, which wasn't totally in accordance with what Herzel intended also. It's a term that's violated by both sides of the spectrum these days.

Secondly, since I didn't find her original statement, I don't know what she intended when she used that term. There's always the outcry of antisemitism when someone dares to criticise Israeli politics. Criticising Israel amounts to antisemitism and it's often used to shut up people criticising the Netanjahu administration. Which doesn't even amount to criticising Israel, since this administration is also an abomination in the eyes of many liberal Israelis.

If someone has the original statement, I would like to see it, since, so far, I only saw reactions to it.
