When the Duggars put themselves forward as a national moral standard (they chose to include religious beliefs in the show) then I don't have much pity/sympathy for them when they fall. Quite frankly, I think that they deserve the condemnation. Are they any better or worse than me, maybe, maybe not, you judge. But remember, I never set myself up as a pillar of morality.
I'm sure TLC had some kind of disclosure statement that they signed in which they declined/neglected to disclose Josh's/the family's past. So it now it also becomes an issue of purposeful deceit for monetary profit.
Not holding the Duggars to a higher standard smacks of catholics (Randy) stating that priests should not be held to a higher standard any more than any other child molester. Bullshit.
