Forget about the current researches.
None of them established that a brain devoid of blood and oxygen is able to produce anything at all.

They were really dead.
They were pronounced dead by qualified doctors.

I believe that the brains were not completely dead at the time of the NDEs, and that those people did not see anything more than a hallucination.
