Kittenshere Poll - Atheists Only!
August 21, 2009 at 6:20 am
Kittenshere seems to be under the impression that there are a certain number of people who have become atheists due to being turned away from the bible because of what she considers false teaching concerning God and torture etc.
These atheists, she believes, may well turn back to God if only it was shown that the bible does not teach these things and it was only due to the 'false' teaching of certain Christians that led them down this path in the first place.
It is these people that she wishes to reach out to.

Not the ones who have no belief whatsoever in his existance but the ones that do and are angry over the hell teachings. They turned away from God due to false teachings
So the question is, are you one of these atheists or not.

at this point it would take some pretty pungent evidence as to the existence of god....Bible aside.

Firstly, I could I could no more turn back to the Christian god than I could stop breathing ... my intellect, my ability to think, to be objective, to rationalise is all that matters to me (about me) and a belief in the Christian god would absolutely oppose every fibre of those aspects of me.
Secondly, which god? Assuming I chose to believe in a god which one would I believe in? I have no idea!
I voted No.

I voted "No". Because books are not evidence, so even if I had 'missed something', I couldn't have missed something that was actually evidence lol.
And if I 'saw something' I'd be infinitely more likely to be hallucinating, or something to that effect - than it to actually be valid evidence, lol.
And also, if I'm choosed to pick one, even though God isn't impossible - I'll pick "No" because the chances of me actually being convinced are next to nothing, lol.

I personally do have a hatred for the concept of hell, but that is not my basis for non-belief. My problem with hell stems from when I was realizing I did not believe in God but terrified by the idea of "What if I'm wrong?" kind of thinking. Luckily, I got past that, but it is a cruel thing to put your children through and people don't even realize it.

To be perfectly honest with you and everyone else... if the Bible was 100% fact, I wouldn't want to worship such a hateful, jealous, immoral bastard.
There would have to be a lot of explaining on a gods part before I would ever praise him/her/it etc.

This is a bit like a Christian giving up Christianity for lent and then when lent had ended stayed an atheist because to an athiest lent means nothing.

No for me too. I stopped believing in god when I stopped believing in Santa Clause. I was not raised in a religious household, thank goodness. Although the idea of Santa Clause is a pleasant one. If I were to believe in one, I'd choose Santa He seems a lot nicer than that god in the bible.

I agree. Many have also said that, and I have also thought that I wouldn't want to either....
But then I always think - such an immoral cunty bastard as that - I bet he'd have ways of fucking making you!!!
Yes I said the 'C word' - (*shock shock shock shock horror!*) I don't normally but...meh it's Yahweh we're talking about here.
I don't give a fuck about language of course, but maybe some would?

I was a christian in my younger days and no, I did not abandon religion because of the issue of hell. It is the entire religion on a whole that, to me, is distasteful. I'm a realist, so I believe in working hard to become successful in life.
If I commit wrong doing, I take full responsibility for it. I do not blame the devil or evil beings or any kind. It is my own doing therefore my own fault. If I am liable for punishment, I take it with full responsibility. If I succeed in life, do well in examinations, help an old lady across the road for no reason other then the fact that I want to help her, I will take full credit for it. As simple as that.
I do not allow imaginary beings to control me, neither do I blame them for my actions or give them credit for any good that I do in my life.
