Your promblem is with religion not God.
Defining god as simply "the goodness within" isn't very useful. Why not just call it goodness and keep the fairy-tales out of it?
No, I don't believe in any god(s), and therefore have no problem with any of 'em. Those followers who insist on introducing their beliefs into the laws of the land, or my doorstep on a Saturday morning, or try to inject their beliefs into my son's education -- those are the assholes who give me heartburn.
As an aside -- the next time you talk about someone else's feelings, perhaps you'd ought to let them tell you what they feel, rather than vice-versa. It's simple courtesy, you know.
