What's wrong with belief is it's wrapped up with behaviour. If you actually believe something, it will affect your conduct.
I don't care if someone believes in fairies or goblins or gods or whatever, I care when they start to take it seriously and base their behaviour on what it is their deity tells them to. It could be harmless, but what if it's not? Homophobia, Stem cell research, Jihad etc.
