Just look at the representations of saints with the aureola on the head.
Good way to shake down the local population for more church contributions, and press them into unpaid labour -- "Lookit all the pretty saints! They're spiritual. Don't you want to be spiritual, too?"
Unfortunately most atheist are plagued with the CANARY SYNDROME and you seem to be one of them
but let me explain what is all about.
The little bird would be lost if left outside the cage all of a sudden.
He would be afraid to cope with procuring food and drink, avoid predators and so many other problems so
the only way is to slow down his freedom.
A bit at the time and the day will come when the bird will manage to cope with all problems but there is a
BUT.
Inside the cage he feel protected.
He got food and drink and beside he never knew what freedom is all about so who cares after all.
Most atheist got the same mentality.
They don't know what the real freedom is.
They confuse a physical body which is a cage with freedom.
Just like little birds inside a cage they don't wish anything else.
They are falsely happy as it is.
