Hillary Clinton will probably win the popular vote. A simple majority backed her over Trump.
On the other hand, it looks like she'll get around five-to-ten million fewer votes than Obama did in his two election victories. Trump will get about as many votes as Romney or McCain did in those elections (which is about three million fewer than W got in 2004). Clinton's total will be about the same as Kerry's from 2004.
Trump won because Republican voters voted in the same numbers as the past eight years. Maybe they held their noses as they did so, maybe they did so proudly. But they voted. Hillary lost because, as Chuck Todd said earlier tonight, the Obama Coalition turned out to be just that: an OBAMA coalition. If the DNC can find a way to get that 5/10 million strong block of voters to the polls for a candidate other than Obama, they may have a very bright political future. If not, well... that's a staggering amount of apathy and lost opportunities for the political left.
"Well, evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data. Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts. Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape- like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered."
