Mrs clinton lost because she didn't listen to, or forgot, what her husband said before the days of Lewinsky scandal: "it's the economy, stupid", or the perception of economy.
It doesn't matter whether the economy is actually good or bad, the debased American electorate without really valuable skills, and with outsized expectation for their deserts, will always want to hear that the economy is bad for them and someone will make it better for them, somehow, because they, somehow, deserve it.
