From what I understand after discussing with several people who begrudgingly voted for Trump, it was more a vote against Hillary (whom they thought was worse and more corrupt) than anything else.
They didn't have to vote -for- trump...neither did I, neither did you....and neither of us -did-. You can make excuses for them until you drop....but you'll never be able to -actually- excuse them.
