You need a desire to think up things before you think up things though!

Desire and faith are two very different things. I desire a brand new fold up bike, where does the whole faith bit come in?
I have strong desire to build this thing because I believe it could be useful to me. I don't know whether it would work or not.

You must have had faith in yourself to know that it was possible to build such a system (that you had a desire to design it) before you started. Right? Or at worst remotely possible!

No, I don't know at all if it would work or not. That's the whole point of building and testing it. So I'd know if it works or not.
I can see it working in my head, but would it work in reality, I don't know. So where does the faith bit come in?

Otherwise why would you bother to start it in the first place if it wasn't plausible is some way?

I bother to start on it because I want to see if it actually works. If it does then I could use it. If it doesn't, I'll redesign it.
What I don't get, is why do you theists insist on putting faith into everything? Does it really matter?

They made calculations, and above all, they tested it. It worked.
Faith doesn't exist when it comes to this mate. If you think something might work, design it, build it and test it.
Seriously, enough with faith this and faith that. Not everything is based on faith.

Faith isn't required if you can test and measure it. Unlike inventions, god cannot be measured or tested.
