As to your suspicions of others on the forum....not exactly a get out of jail free card in a conversation with me. I;ve never donated to the site, but I was a UN peacekeeper who gave years of my life, a knee, a few pounds of -actual- flesh, and a functioning testicle to the cause. Did I not give enough to satisfy you? Am I just seeking that superior feeling...or can you accept that maybe, just maybe, I somehow manage to give a shit about refugees...and my kids, and other americans?
Maybe that;s the problem, maybe you need to see this firsthand to get past the "hurr durr terrorist" kneejerk nonsense. A little warzone voyeurism, I mean, if you want to talk about stuff that changes your mind. Booby trapped piles of diapers, feral fucking children, bodies in the street..........people begging you for anything, everything, always. Kids eating what looks like and probably is human shit. Geting shot at for helping people, and the people who accept your help being executed by their neighbors.....and by help, a mean a hershey bar to a toddler, that's all it takes.....or just random munitions that spring up from under the dirt or in the sky overhead....they;re regular people man, terrified, all of this is -happening- to them. They're not the ones doing it...those guys are well provisioned and relatively safe...those guys don;t wanna leave their country, they're not running away, they expect to run the shithole when the dust settles. Put yourself in their place.
