Pro athletes are a corrupt businessman's dream. They generate enormous revenues and are usually underpaid because salaries are capped in one way or another. But if the players point this out, they get branded as assholes because they're making millions of dollars a year. Mind you, they were branded as assholes in the past when they didn't get paid as well, because they were being paid to play sports and that 'wasn't a real job.' To top it off, lots of teams get local communities to pay for new stadium facilities in deals that are obscenely unfavorable to the taxpayers who usually don't get a say in the approval of those deals.
So let's see... you get to underpay your employees while making big profits off of them, you get to fleece the local tax base for your own benefit, and the anger of most people is directed at someone else. Ask me again why Trump doesn't want to boycott pro sports.
