Unfortunately, if you want a comparison to how our economic system actually works, the tallest kid is sitting on a throne, made up of several boxes, the shorter kids pay him to tell them about the ball game and if anyone suggests we change anything, they're instantly labeled Stalin-esque communists.
Want to see what I would do to change things? Give everyone universal health care, just like every other industrialized country on earth. Include a guaranteed minimum pay that would give them enough money for food, shelter and clothes; not like they live the high life, but they live. If they want to get above that basic minimum, give them a few resources to do that, too (I mean, seriously, it's nearly impossible to find a job nowadays without a phone or computer). Try to create an actual meritocracy where people who work hard are able to get ahead and people who are lazy don't; right now, we don't have that. People work 20 hrs a day of hard labor and still stay poor while the idle rich are still able to twiddle their thumbs, do nothing, and still have more money than most of us will ever have.
