Adoption of mentally impaired babies

So, do you think it's wrong for the pregnant couple to choose to put their baby up for adoption in this case? Would you judge them? How do you feel about this type of decision?

Bold mine: I haven't got children but going by how I generally feel I'm tempted to judge them. I can only go with what I know about my own emotions and attachments. I feel like I could never do that. I would at least try to keep the baby. This may sound peculiar to some people, but we once had a former lab dog, distrustful, deaf and suffering from diabetes, as we learned later. But never in my wildest dream would I have been comfortable with giving her away. She was ours to look after and I would have felt terrible if I had dealt with the situation in any other way.
