The excuses aren't "I had a bomb go off in my face in Iraq", they're the shit we all deal with every day just fine. And my wife deals with more people in a year with such "problems" than I have ever met in my entire life. I'd say these are pretty damned good indications they're just whiny bitches.
I have known people with PTSD. I had a cousin who wasn't right after coming back from Vietnam. I understood that shit. I have a nephew missing toes after getting run over by a tank. I understand his shit. I have a nephew who watched his CO get his face blown off trying to disarm a mine. I understand that shit. That is some "real shit". The cousin is now dead, but he NEVER used his problems as an excuse to leave work. He just lost it now and then and needed to be committed for a month or two. You wouldn't even know the nephews went through any shit. They don't go whining to their bosses that they need to get paid to sit on their asses the rest of their shift until HR comes in first thing in the morning to offer them counseling and send them home.
And I've been suicidal in my youth. You don't fucking tell people about it. Least of all coworkers. MAYBE people who are really close to you, if you're asking for help. I wasn't born yesterday. I know how the world works and I know what it's like to deal with shit.
So take my word for it or don't, but I'm not going to argue with you about whether or not any particular person is just whining. Obviously you're offended by the idea that some of us are saying your personal shit should stay at home. But you know what? That employer is paying you to work. It is an exchange of money for time. If you're getting the money, the employer should be able to expect to get the time. It's a business, not a therapy session. That's the nature of "work". You go there to "work" and in exchange for "work" you get paid. Your personal shit shouldn't be the employers problem. They're hiring workers, not adopting you.
Lol, stupidity about mental illness stopped offending me a long time ago. How do you know the person that said it was "work related stress" wasn't dealing with severe depression or anxiety? There's an extreme stigma to admitting these things, so for you to assume nothing was actually wrong because they didn't come outright and say it is ignorant. Can I have the crystal ball you're using to tell whether people are having true mental issues or not? That would be mighty useful. It would especially help considering thousands upon thousands of people go undiagnosed because they're afraid to ask for help for fear they'll be labeled a "pussy" by people like you that think they have magic powers. There were plenty of times where I had to do things at work that I know people were judging me for just like you're judging these people, but I said to myself, "Fuck 'em. Their ignorance is not my problem." Oh, and the people I did explain it to were like, "Holy shit, I get it now." It's almost as if these things aren't readily visible...
Oh, you didn't tell people you were suicidal? Well, that certainly means you can extrapolate that experience to everyone else. It's not like the brain is an extremely complex organ that makes it so we all experience and cope with things differently.
It's funny. You're perfectly fine with telling people to leave their mental shit at home, but I wonder if you would say the same thing about someone with diabetes? Lol, "fail to produce insulin on your own time, pussy. I'm not adopting you."
