*sighs* So much for avoiding that bitch-fest, eh? If you pull that stick out of your ass, Asmodee, maybe we can have a discussion instead of you just whining that people are telling you you're wrong. Speaking of pulling things out of your ass, pull your head out, too, so you can stop strawmanning the shit out of me and actually listen to what I have to say.
Firstly, no one is butthurt(except maybe you?), and no one is upset that there are whiny people. So, you can just let that shit go. Like I said, I learned a long time ago not to let ignorance about mental health bother me. If I did, I'd be in in a 24/7 rage.
So, your wife now has a psychology degree? Well, isn't that convenient. What, a Bachelor's? Master's? What area? There are many areas of psychology, and majority of them don't have anything to do with diagnosing mental illness. Hell, a friend of mine has a psychology and a sociology degree, and he's not remotely qualified to diagnose mental illness. Despite what you seem to think, it's is not as simple as just working around someone and observing them. Even specialists with Ph.D.'s have to spend hours of one on one time to diagnose mental illness. Diagnosing is really, really difficult, and even the experts get it wrong. The brain is extremely complex, and simply having a psychology degree doesn't necessarily qualify someone to diagnose people. Unless your wife has a Ph.D. in an area specifically about diagnosing and spends hours of counseling them one on one, she isn't actually qualified to make that call. Sorry to break that news to you, but maybe you should learn what you're talking about before you go off half-cocked calling people stupid.

Did I say you were responsible for what I've experienced? Again, head. Ass. Out. I was using my experience to point out that exactly what you've said here is the kind of thing that fuels the stigma of mental illness. Your belief that you can tell who's just being whiny and who isn't makes the world harder on people with real problems.

Even if the open windows of science at first make us shiver after the cozy indoor warmth of traditional humanizing myths, in the end the fresh air brings vigor, and the great spaces have a splendor of their own - Bertrand Russell
