I think a lot of the anger towards Trump is payback for the way the wingers behaved under Obama for eight years.
From the moment Obama (and the 2009 Democratic congress) were sworn in the wingers were in constant hysterics, calling the entire Democratic party socialists and Marxists. Everybody on the right was doing everything they could to not just undermine the Democratic congress, but also sabotage the government as a whole -- leading to several shut downs. We all remember the racist signs, the questioning of Obama's citizenship, the propaganda about death panels, the guns that were brandished at rallies, all the name calling, the targets on Democratic congressmen, all the constant disinformation that was spread about what we progressives believe, and just how awful they were to deal with general. I remember wingers were singing songs called "there's a communist in the White House!" at Tea Parties, and even chanting about putting Pelosi and Reid in front of firing squads.
These are the very last people that should be lecturing about unity and peaceful transition of power. They were like hecklers at a theater during all the years we held power, and now they feel entitled to respect when the roles are reversed. Yeah, fuck them. You get what you give in life, and we owe them a few little gulps of the bullshit we dealt with. They were simply too difficult and nasty the entire time they were on the sidelines. They blamed us for everything that is wrong with America for eight years, despite having the congress and most state houses. They wanted to divided America so they could get that last piece of the puzzles, the white house. Well, it's divided now baby! I hope it was worth it, because now we get to swing the sword of criticism for a little while.
