I worked as a probation officer for a number of years. During my tenure there, the Superior Court changed its tune on 12 Step programs, and "allowed" them as a possible compliance measure, but no longer ever prescribed them. Definitely a problem in commanding someone to "worship" anything, even if it is a tree in his yard. If it is bothering you, and it is clear that it is, request a review of status hearing through your P.O. or caseworker. There are non-step programs with high success rates to serve your need.
