Yeah, miss lead by whom? Their delusions? Because those people tell dramatic and sincere stories of answered prayers and use it to "prove" that their religion is accurate and their gods are real, just like Christians do, but unlike Christians they're doomed to hell.
Some time in the past those religions started either by Satan's influence or by a man's own will through selfish motivation. The religion lived on for whatever reason and the people that follow those religions have been mislead by others. Unless they find Christ and accept Him for who He is they will go to an eternal punishment.

FM Wrote:Well GC, your post could be lump up that you seem to think that for being a Christian nothing matters apart from a few basic tenets centered on Jesus. That's a nice, concise, and inclusive thought, I suppose, but I don’t see how it can be true. If it were true, wouldn’t there just be one big unified group of Christians with only a few offshoots at most? Something does matter in addition to believing that Jesus is God, and it must matter a great deal because wars have been fought, people tortured, and families torn apart over disagreements within Christianity.
As an atheist I'm fine with lumping all Christians together. But I shouldn't do that, according to many Christians themselves. Many of them exclude Mormons or Jehovah's Witness and do not consider them to be "real Christians," for example. Even you yourself admit there are fake Christians who are only there for getting rich, but who are you to say they are fake? I mean they also say you are fake Christian.
I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion from my short statement above, curious. There is an entire book on Christianity it's called the Bible read it and you might see that Christianity covers more than one person could ever understand. Many wars have been started over many things, many people have been tortured over things other than religion, more families have been torn apart over money than any other single thing. We can go on playing tube blame game as long as you want to but, it's not going to get us close to an intelligent discussion.
The Mormons and the Jehovah's Witness are modern day cults started by one person trying to suck others into their delusion. There are others that are borderline but, let's just stay with the two most popular. As for me being a Southern Baptist many denominations would say I'm not a Christian, know why, because we try to live as close to the biblical teachings as possible. Are we better no what we do not do is stand on just a few verses to support our denomination. Most other denominations think we are wrong about once saved always saved but, hey that's their right, I can tell you this no one denomination has it all right and if you find one that believes so and teaches so they are most likely a cult.
I can say they are fake because what they do doesn't stand up to biblical criteria for Christians.

FM Wrote:Well again I don't see how reading the Bible looking for answers would bring me correct answers when even Christians get completely different answers from it.
If the Bible was inspired by God and was meant to instruct humankind, then why can't Christians at least, if not the entire world, agree on it?
We are a sinful people, all of us and we put ourselves before most things in life. Christians put themselves before , why, selfishness wanting to be above the others. Christians to often forget we're to be a humble people. Most denominations believe in the most important tenets of the scriptures when it comes to salvation and what most of us disagree on doesn't mount to a hill of beans.
I tried not to say this but, you're not leaving much choice, the questions you have been asking are basic things most young Christians could answer. There is a level that everyone can read the Bible and understand the basics, it's the God inspired things that you couldn't understand if someone were to explain them to you. I see it on here all the time.
FM Wrote:Some denominations project live-and-let-live attitudes. Others, however, openly state that they are right and everyone else is wrong—and will pay a severe price on Judgment Day. We can get you into heaven, they say, but that other church is a one-way ticket to hell.
Like I said being a Southern Baptist I know this, I will tell you this most Southern Baptist do not think like you described above. When I've talked to people about Jesus and felt like the person was wanting to find out more I would tell them to find a good church close to them and search more. If you'll notice I didn't tell them any particular denomination. I knew if they were sincere God would lead them to a church that would be helpful to them no matter the denomination.
FM Wrote:There are Christians who support gay rights,
I support certain gay rights as all Christians should but, not those things that the scriptures condemn.
FM Wrote:Christians who strongly condemn homosexuality, and then there are Christians who have no interest in other people's sexuality. [\quote]
I strongly condemn those things the Bible teaches against, God didn't created man for man nor woman for woman. Those Christians who look the other way would be asked by Christ AsHe asked Paul, what's the matter with you are you ashamed of me and what I Am. That's a paraphrase.
FM Wrote:There are Christians who say Jesus wants them to amass extravagant wealth as quickly as possible, and others who say that Jesus wants them to give it all away.
Neither of those things have biblical support of any kind, the Bible is our guide to spiritual living, not getting wealthy or making ourselves poor, those are physical desires. Jesus told us that God takes care of the smallest of birds and then asked how much more do you think the Father loves you. He meant the Father would provide for us what we needed and could handle.
FM Wrote:Some Christians fight in wars, and some are pacifists who won’t go near one.
I see this as a personal choice but, I think those who object to fighting should still serve in some form if our country calls them, there are many things besides fighting.

You deny the fact that basically every LITERAL representation of "Gawd" in the bible has made up bullshit, you also most likely deny the mountains of scientific evidence disproving that the world is 6,000 years old, the fact the great flood never happened, and so much more. Also, you most likely deny the mountains of evidence proving evolution. If you believe a flying bearded omniscient tyrant in the sky who created EVERYTHING, and is both himself, and his own son, and that he both loves you like no one else, but would send you to burn in hell forever for not believing in him enough at the same time? You're in denial, no rational person would believe all that ridiculous bullshit. You're the childish one here, basing your life on fairytales.
Same old junk I've heard a hundred times before. You got so much wrong in your statement about Christianity it's not even funny. Until you learn what Christians believe you need to stay out of the conversations, you waste time implying nonsense.By the way evolution has no proof at all, it in itself is a delusion and it seems you've bought into it.

God loves those who believe and those who do not and the same goes for me, you have no choice in this matter. That puts the matter of total free will to rest.
