No they're not. For example when I use that word (and I do often) nothing even relating to homosexuals is in my mind. People can and do use it as just a general prejorative.
So it's acceptable to use a perjorative if you don't, in your heart of hearts, mean it in it's original usage, but in a more general sense.
So, you are a bigot. I don't mean that in the original sense, it's just a general insult I'm leveling at you. You've established that is acceptable to you, so how do you know every person calling you (or anyone) a bigot doesn't mean it in the same way when you use faggot as a general perjorative?

Kinda funny that the complaint is that RACIST and BIGOT have come to just mean any old asshole, you know they have become a sort of general pejorative, instead of being used in their more specific, original intent. Hmm, and people don't seem to like having that general pejorative leveled at them. Hmm. Makes you really think, eh? lol
