Believers in religion are not simple.

Dumb people often make up pleasantly sounding nonsense, so that they can parade it around, proud that they now also have some "arcane knowledge", that smart people can't comprehend. Science is hard, learning facts is hard - mystical bullsh*t is much easier and nobody can call you out on it because none of it has any meaning, so it can't be tested. It's just mental masturbation, that makes you feel smart and maybe can get some dumb chick to suck your d*ck, but it's not knowledge.

Many Humans though ruined that, by turning religion into a spell that makes them feel better about themselves after a crime, but humans do that with almost anything.

LOL... Religion was a scam from the beginning. Nobody "ruined" it - cynical frauds and nutjobs, like Muhammad simply used it and continue to use it to gain power over simple, ignorant, fearful people. That's what religion is for. You can save you pathetic apologetics for some dumb believers.  

Some are so simple minded that they unite behind skin color. Others are even more simple; they unite behind trivial reasons such as a mere name that a piece of land has.

People don't need "religion" to kill.
They also don't need prophets to wage war.
