Therefore the wife doesn't actually have to make an action, it's punishment purely based on the husbands emotions relating to his wife. If he fears arrogance from her he enacts these punishments.
Rebellion would be closer to the correct meaning.
What follows is the key:
Rebellion is types. That means hitting the husband and calling him names for example, are two different acts but both are rebelions.
The verse gives 3 kinds of replies to the rebellions;
We have simple advice, then abandoning in bed, then hitting.
You can't go against the eye for an eye verse being a law. So it makes sense; if your wife rebelled and ignored you sexually, ignore her in bed, if your wife called you names and made fun of you, advice her, if your wife beat you, beat her.
Eye for an eye.
No because that's not what the verse says.
It doesn't say if your wife rebels, it says if you fear rebellion from your wife. Wether she has rebelled or not.
Therefore if you follow what the verse says then it isn't necessarily an eye for an eye, it can be take someone's eye out if you fear they're about to take yours.
it says in black and white, if you fear rebellion.
Are you ready for the fire? We are firemen. WE ARE FIREMEN! The heat doesn’t bother us. We live in the heat. We train in the heat. It tells us that we’re ready, we’re at home, we’re where we’re supposed to be. Flames don’t intimidate us. What do we do? We control the flame. We control them. We move the flames where we want to. And then we extinguish them.
Impersonation is treason.
